The Citizen Stage projet
This work of theatre by the Citizens stage is a way for Akureyri’s Culture Society to give the citizens of Akureyri a chance to ponder questions on their community and seek answers with the methods and tools of theatre. An open call for participation was made at the beginning of the project to all citizens in the town. The artists Aude Busson and Vala Höskuldsdóttir then guided a group of about 10 women of foreign origin, living in Akureyri, for around seven months. Three events were performed and organised by the participants: an intercultural dinner on stage with selected guests from the town’s community, a demonstrative performance at the 1st May on the stage set up for Work Unions speeches and a guided tour through the town.
